Custom-made kitchen

A custom-made kitchen has no shelf price: a maker gives you the exact price only after seeing the space and drawing up a design. As a guide, makers quote a price per running metre, meaning one metre of kitchen along the wall with base and wall units. We asked 13 makers on ambijent.me what they charge per metre in the three most common materials. The total above uses a chipboard kitchen, typically €1,650 for 3 metres.

MaterialPrice per running metre
FromTypical
Melamine chipboard€400€550
MDF with foil or acrylic€600€650
Painted MDF€750€900

Melamine chipboard is chipboard with a melamine finish: it is the most affordable and comes in many decors. MDF is a denser, smoother board, and its fronts are covered with foil or acrylic. Painted MDF is lacquered in the colour of your choice and is the most expensive of the three, because lacquering takes the most handwork.

These prices are a starting point, and a kitchen can easily cost much more. The price per metre goes up most with high gloss, CNC machining, LED lighting, glass doors, better hardware (hinges, drawer runners and lift mechanisms for wall units) and a compact laminate or ceramic worktop. With all of these extras a metre can reach €1,500, or about €4,500 for a 3 metre kitchen. Tall units, built-in appliances and a corner change the sum further. Appliances are not included, and some makers include the worktop, delivery and installation in the price per metre while others charge for them separately, so check this in the quote.

Methodology

The index shows what it costs to furnish a typical one-bedroom apartment: the living room, the bedroom, the dining area and a 3 metre custom-made kitchen. For each item in the table we worked out the typical and the lowest price, multiplied them by the number of pieces and added everything up into the total.

Furniture prices come from the ambijent.me catalogue on 3 November 2026. That is 923 models with a listed price from 8 furniture stores in Montenegro. When a product was on sale, we used the sale price. Products with the price on request were left out, because their price is not public.

“Typical” is the median, the price in the middle of the range: half of the models cost less and half cost more. “From” is the 10th percentile, the price below which the cheapest 10% of models fall. We did not use the single lowest price, because one mistyped or unusual product could set it on its own.

A custom-made kitchen has no ready price in the catalogue, so we asked 13 makers on ambijent.me what they charge per running metre. We collected the answers up to 24 September 2026. For the kitchen, “typical” is the price you can most often expect, and “from” is the lowest price any maker gave. The total uses a chipboard kitchen.

The bill covers furniture only, so appliances, bathroom fittings, delivery and installation are not included. We do not name individual stores, because the index describes the market, not the range of one store.
